Speaker happy with  Pemba programmes

SPEAKER of the National Assembly Dr Tulia Ackson said she is pleased by the unity and solidarity in regard to MPs’ programmes in Pemba that aim to solve challenges facing their constituents in regard to education, water and health sectors.

Dr Tulia expressed her pleasure at different times during her first official visit in Pemba at meetings held at Chwale Madenjani and Kangagani Primary schools after handing one classroom and 1,500 out of 5,000 roofing sheets as well as school text books as part of “Kojani MP Week” celebrations, the items provided by Kojani MP, Hamad Omar Chande.

Chande also handed a fully furnished ambulance to be used by his constituents.

The MP also handed jerseys to 21 football teams in his constituency as well as for neighbouring constituencies aimed at promoting sports and pledged to work together with Kojani residents in finding solutions to challenges they face.

Dr Tulia said the presence of MPs from other constituencies in the event is a clear sign of the existence of harmony and solidarity among them and added that this collaboration should be sustained.

She added that efforts being taken by the Kojani MP are solving challenges facing his people aim at developing them.

“I am also an MP but I cannot compare myself with the efforts shown by this MP,” the Speaker added.

She called on them to cooperate with their MP with to encourage him to do great things for them in regard to their development especially in meeting his campaign pledges.

Earlier, Kojani MP who is also Deputy Minister for Finance and Planning listed his programme’s strategies for his constituency including bringing in specialist doctors from Israel, US and India to look into the health of his constituents.

He said in his plan of “Rejecting Zero” in examinations he brought in teachers from the Mainland to assist Forms IV and VI students to do well in their examinations and ensure many students from his constituency pass their examinations.
